The term political agnostic reflects the view that in today's America certain truths are unknown, inherently unknowable, or incoherent, and therefore irrelevant. We hear so much spin from all sides about our leaders, our foreign "allies" and "enemies", the actions of our military and other ambassadors, the war, etc..., many of us have decided to tune the noise out and focus on what we're most certain about. Unfortunately many more, however, have chosen a side to attack from, or worse, simply given up. The term and those related to agnostic were coined by Thomas Henry Huxley in 1869, and are also used to describe those who are unconvinced or noncommittal about the existence of deities as well as other matters of religion. The word agnostic comes from the Greek a (without) and gnosis (knowledge). Our current political system thrives on division, aggression towards people who disagree, and the extreme polarization of every issue. This club is for anyone who wants question what they think they know about America and politics. It's for people who are willing to listen to other opinions and critically think about them. It's a club for people willing to admit and wise enough to understand the fact that YOU NEVER HAVE THE WHOLE STORY. If this is you, please join this club and start an open dialogue about something. You won't be judged or attacked by me for any honest opinions/beliefs you hold. I only ask the same from you. |
