I attend West Midland Regional League (WMRL) football matches and take photographs which I post on Flickr. For many years I was a season ticket holder at Wolverhampton Wanderers and watched them home and away. But today watching professional football is a sanitized, plastic, soulless and expensive version of the passionate, egalitarian, vibrant experience that it once was. Alas!

Movies
Look, give your local multiplex a miss will you? It might have twelve screens but it's only prepared to show Holywood blockbuster pap. For example, could I find a screening of "Capote" anywhere? No.
So get on your bike and take yourself down to a theatre and see some real acting. The sort that only has one take.
Television
I don't watch much TV these days as the BBC is being dragged down by the lies and propoganda of Murdoch's evil empire. I can't see how anyone can watch anything whilst being bombarded for five minutes in every twenty with the raucous inane gibberish of advertisements. Anyway... I've posted an extract from the much underrated TV serialization of "Gormenghast" (John Sessions as Dr. Prunesquallor and Fiona Shaw as his spinster sister Irma) and Vladimir's (Barry McGovern) closing speech in "Waiting for Godot" from "Beckett on Film". I hope nobody will complain. Surely it just encourages you to go out and buy your own copy! How ironic, it's advertising. Only I'm doing it because I think these are wonderful and rich not because I can make money from it. How do people who work in advertising sleep at night?
